This is just about as far north as you can go !!!

After a very hearty breakfast we started to drive north and we kept driving and driving until we reached Kaitaia - the last town before you head up to the Cape. We stopped off for coffee at the Ancient Kauri Kingdom a workshop with loads of very impressive Kauri carvings and furniture and then decided that all Kauri is out of our budgets even the spoons!

So next stop Cape Reinga lighthouse. The road runs paralel with ninety mile beach but with no 4w4 this time, the beach road was off limits. Only one road up changing to a gravel track, we finally made it and ok the lighthouse wasn't the most impressive we've seen but seeing the Tasman sea meet Pacific Ocean was cool, you could definately make out the exact point they met.
