Yesterday we worked a full day- yes it was a huge shock to both of us. Justin is in the process of building a pack house for the blueberries and so him and Ricky got stuck into a day of building - yes Ricky was in his element climbing on the frames and he even got to wear his own tool belt!!! That meant I was looking after Rueben who was off school ill - a whole day of monopoly is exhausting (it was home made so it was far more exciting)and Rueben & I had to keep checking that the men weren't slacking!
One whole day of work meant one whole day off and now we have a lovely family of locals to steal info off we have tips on where to visit without having to do our own research. Buffy told us about a picturesque drive where we would get to see 'real New Zealand' so we headed off to Rawene. It was a gorgeous drive and we arrived at Rawene a tiny little village with only a handful of shops. The famous boatshed cafe was closed for a holiday! But we had lunch at a little gallery then got the car ferry over the Hokianga Harbour to Kohukohu. Another cute little village with rusty cars growing on the jetty and a backpackers treehouse. Its all so peaceful, winding roads through rolling hills and farms tucked away in the hillside. Thanks Buffy a great tip for a beautiful drive.
