Well we had sold the car after 4days and met up with Jo & Adam who we recognised from Townsville - they moved into the flat below us and hey presto we have friends who we feel like we've known ages. Time to explore!
1st stop The Opera House of course. The four of us took a stroll through the beautiful Botanic Gardens where we got our first proper glimpse of the famous landmark - it is just as beautiful and breath taking as we expected it to be and we could have stared up at it for ages. We walked all the way round it and then went inside to see if we could get tickets to anything (no - all tickets out of our budget even if it is SOH!)and admired the very architecturally pleasing toilets!! As we came out of the Opera House we stood and watched a bride having her photos taken before boarding a boat to get married while floating round the harbour - romantic!
You can't help but notice the Sydney Harbour Bridge while at the Opera House and again we were mesmerized. We wanted to climb it but at $150 it was definately something to save for our next trip. We wandered round the oldest part of Sydney- The Rocks before watching the sunset over the Opera House.
And then there were two - and off to explore Darling Harbour which was pretty cool, we fell in love with a painting by an artist from Liverpool but with a price tag of $3000 we decided to settle for jelly babies and sherbert dib dabs - we had found a gem, a shop selling British sweets and they tipped us off about a shop possibly selling PG Tips! We checked out Paddys Market but felt like we had been transported back in time to Asia so we went in search of the teabags. RESULT, our tipoff was correct and we headed home for the first real cup of tea in 6months. A perfect day ended with a homecooked meal & homemade bread (I think I'll keep this one he's a real master in the kitchen)
Time for some modern art at Sydney's Contempory Art Gallery which is right next to the Opera House - we just can't stay away. Then off to check out how long George Street actually is and some window shopping!
