Anzac Weekend

Text written in: English

Well we have made it to Brisbane!!! And here we have to stay until Stimpy is in tip top condition ready to be sold in Sydney as Sydney is far to expensive to get any work done!

As it is a long weekend we have to wait til Tuesday, Anzac day is on Monday 25th and is the day 100s of Australian & New Zealand troops were killed in WW1 and everything is closed in memory- like even supermarkets. Well we have bought our Anzac biscuits - they our very yummy, and are enjoying the chill out time and trying to ignore the fact that we have loads of Oz still to see.

We went to check out Brisbane city and we were pleasantly surprised. A brisbaner had warned us that "Bris Vegas" as she called it was super tacky but we loved it and it is nothing like Vegas. It has a beautiful skyline and some really cool buildings, if only our memory cards weren't all full we'd have taken pics! It has a very homely feel maybe a bit like Birmingham!!!

Well our campsite is packed full of people taking advantage of the long weekend and so we have done some laundry and cleared out Stimpy - its amazing what you can accumulate over only 75days and chilled out.

We went for a lovely sunny Sunday walk through leafy suburbs and then stumbled across an internet cafe. Well we say internet cafe but its like another world, an underground refuge for all crazy War Craft addicts, this is taking computer games to a totally different quite scary level - but we are putting up with it for the sake of ball of dirt!

Hopefully Stimpy will be good as new by Tuseday afternoon and we can get a wriggle on down the coast.

Update as promised- Stimpy took until Thursday to be ready so we had a lot of time to kill. We checked out the free Art Gallery on Brisbane's South Bank which was cool, went sunglasses shopping for Ricky and found some!! Then had to find somewhere to sleep, a bit of a mission as a lot of the hostels were full or really expensive-we found one in "the Valley" it was a bit dodgy but they were friendly if not clean!!
On Wednesday we had a cinema day - watched The Extra which was a very bad Aussie film and then The Pacifier with Vin Diesel- funny. Then back to the hostel as Stimpy was waiting for parts to be flown up from Sydney. The hostel owners took pity on us and found us towels so we could shower (all our stuff was in Stimpy - we didn't think it would take this long!)This was great but we didn't even have a change of clothes so still felt pretty manky.
Thursday we explored the South Bank and the Botanical Gardens, then had a tour of the Parliament house before finally getting a bus back to the garage and rescuing Stimpy and finally leaving Brisbane which we were beginning to call home!!
