Finally you can swim in the sea!!! But no time!

Just before we arrived in Hervey Bay we stopped off at Mon Repos Turtle Sanctaury. Unfortunately we had just missed the nesting season of Jan - March but we checked out the visitor centre and then went down to see the beach. We can definately see why the turtles come back here year after year it is beautiful.

Hervey Bay is where we had booked our trip to Fraser Island and we were worried that it would be a repeat of Airlie Beach. We arrived and booked our Fraser Safari for Sunday with Beaches Backpackers, this gave us a day to kill so we found a campsite on the beach (yes we like them).

When we pulled up we met a lovely old English couple who now live in a luxury caravan in Oz just travelling round- not a bad life! They immediately offered us a cold beer so were firm friends!! We excused ourselves to try and find an Indian without sucess so settled for kebabs! Yes we are eating a lot of takeaways - not healthy but they are so cheap it is cheaper than buying food and cooking it!

The next day we woke up got out of Stimpy and were just thinking about boiling the water for coffee when our friendly neighbours told us the kettle had boiled and they were waiting to know if we wanted tea or coffee, they even offered us toast and jam - how kind. So we spent the day chatting to them, debating the Corby drugs case heatedly and doing our washing so we had some clean clothes for Fraser! That afternoon we checked into Beaches Backpackers for another free night ( we got an awesome deal when we booked Whitsundays & Fraser!) and to meet the guys we would be exploring Fraser with!
