Rockhampton the steak capital of OZ

After spending so much time in Airlie we had to get a wriggle on, so we bid farewell to Daz & Karen who were now going on their cruise (and yes the sun was shining!) and we drove south to Mackay. Here we stopped for a coffee some choccy cake and to check out the VW wreckers Daz had tipped us off about! How sad are we!! Unfortunately they had none of the parts we wanted so we carried on our way.

About 10km out of town there was suddenly an almighty crash and the scraping of metal on tarmac! We pulled over to discover the bullbars (or Roo bars as Aussies call them) had flipped down and Stimpy was impersonating a forklift!! Oh Dear. We drag them off and drive on with bullbars & a spare tyre on the bed! We were tempted to go back to the wreckers but decided its an unnessary expense and Stimpy still looks kinda cute without them!

We arrive in Rockhampton just as its getting dark. Rockhampton is Australia's Steak capital, however the only cows we saw were painted statues and lots of them. So we got a pizza (yeah yeah should've had steak but could't be bothered) found a campsite and treated ourselves to a phonecall home before removing the bullbars so we could sleep!
