Now Alice & James had deserted us, we decide that the next day we would leave ourselves and head up land after they seemed to enjoy it so much.
So we left for a pretty little spot called Mossman Gorge. Its in the middle of the rainforest - thats the oldest surviving rainforest on earth by the way! The water in the gorge was ice cold and so clear it was unreal and really refreshing - so nice to swim in. There were huge smooth rocks you could swim out to and sit on just cooling down with rainforest trees all around and the water running past. It was very relaxing and the temperature here was far cooler and much more bareable than in Palm Cove.
After we had cooled off here we headed for a place called Port Douglas and stayed at a hostel called Dougie (noticing a theme yet) We spent some time chilling by the pool just being backpackers with a rum and coke before I cooked up a true storm and we eat like kings!! That evening I played pool for a large part of the evening (you know the old winner stays on chestnut) Port Douglas is a small fishing town turned upmarket resort and has some quaint little shops and a gorgeous church with a huge window looking out to sea just above the alter - better than any stained glass. There is a good jetty for fishing off but I think I'd pushed my luck with 3days fishing and golf already!
