Alone again !!!

Today we again set off in convoy and drove and drove aiming for Hughenden 396km away. Again Graham & Wayne sped off and we followed at a sensible speed.

Queensland as a state has a huge revenue from tourists visiting the East coast and the Reef so they maintain the roads along the coast BUT the roads elsewhere are horrific. You are driving along the highways and suddenly the road goes from two lanes to one narrow lane with dirt each side and cows roaming across at their leisure, but there are still road signs warning of RoadTrains ( giant US style lorries with 3 or 4 trailers and the end one swinging out all over the place). You meet one of these on one of these roads and there is no hope!

Well we got to Hughenden at about 3pm and decided we couldn't bare to spend another night in a one horse town with Graham & Wayne - our patience for these two bright sparks was flagging. So on we drove to Charters Towers still a tiny place but some time to ourselves again. The campsite was tiny with a tiny pool but clean and we had a lovely evening drinking Barossa wine chilling out.

This drive meant Nikki won the prize for driving the most KM in one go - 750KM!!!! but not for driving the most that for sure is still mine!
