People shops and internet in the bush!!

Text written in: English

Well we finally arrived in Alice Springs and with Stimpy in one piece - a miracle! We are now chillin out for a few days (giving Stimpy a break too).
This place is so normal, which is completely the opposite of what we expected especially compared to some of the small and far more accessible towns we have driven through so far. Despite being surrounded by nothing - literally nothing just desert Alice is quite big with McDs, Subway, Cinema, Blockbusters, 3Supermarkets, Vauxhall, Kawasaki & Nissan Dealerships and loads of nice cafes which have real tea & coffee and do great food. So we are pretty happy at the moment, we have found a really nice campsite with laundrette and pool so have clean clothes and have been cooling off in the pool. It is so hot here around 42'C, the air is so thick you can barely breathe so we are doing as little as possible to stay cool.

We have however been to at least 4 mechanics in search of a real spare tyre rather than a dodgy outback one, when we found one we also found a VW Combi being scrapped so we took some parts like window seals and a glove compartment to make Stimpy more lovely so that was lucky.

On sunday we went for a wander into town expecting it to be dead but instead it was more alive than ever - there was a sunday market with loads of stalls set up in the pedestrian shopping centre with loads of crafts and knic knacks braving the sweltering midday heat! Another surprise! We love it here and just can't get over how normal it is you expect to be in the middle of a metropolis not the outback.

Just to help us with our chillin we went to the pub and then to the cinema to see Hitch. The pub had 10 different flavour vodkas not just VB and Tooheys like the other pubs we've been to, it could have been a Wetherspoons!
