We flew to Nha Trang by the worlds smallest plane, not great for my flying nerves but we arrived in one piece. Nha Trang is a weird kinda place, like Tenerife before it got popular during off season!! The bay rates in the worlds top 10 apparently we werent too impressed, and the town is small and quite sleepy. When we got there we headed straight for the beach where we got hounded by vendors selling everything from paintings to food. We bought some fruit and had pinapple freshly prepared for us as we sunbathed. Then Ricky got a massage (yes another one) and I had my legs threaded (hairs individually plucked by threads). It hurt like hell which Rick found hilarious and I have learnt my lesson never to walk out of the house again without shaving!!!
The next day we changed our hotel from a 8$ room to a 6$ room without a balcony in a hotel in a side street just so it would be quieter being away from that traffic - see we are budgetting!!!Nha Trang is famous for diving and we booked a Discover Suba Course. On the boat going out there I think Ricky thought he had pushed his luck too far with this activity as I was scared shitless. After a 15min lesson with flash cards on the boat with our rather hunky french instrctor Alex, we got wet suited.
After Alex I was the first to jump in as i knew if I waited I'd chicken out. We had to do a small test to check we could use the equipment and cope in an emergency. After a lot of panics and nearly giving up, I passed and we went on our first dive. It wasn't deep or long and was pretty shit esp as I was still feeling panicy. We got back on the boat and had a 2hr break then got back in the water. This time it was brill, I was fine with the equip and we went for our "exploration". First fish we saw was Nemo - brave little fish came and attacked rickys mask! We saw star fish, amazing colourred fish and coral and Moray Eels and Angel Fish(yes for all of those who get the irony I did too) It was unbeleivable and quite cute us holding hands, with Alex holding my other hand!! A fab experience - Great Barrier Reef here we come! We aren't gonna do our Padi course cos of the time and cost but we can now dive to 12m with an instructor for up to a yr so that's all we need.
