Well we are at Singapore airport waiting for our flight to Vietnam. We arrived yesterday, at least I think it was yesterday its getting confusing now. We flew out of Joberg at 2.30 on Saturday and into Singapore 10hrs later so it was midnight to us and definately sleep time as i cannot sleep on the plane and Ricky was to engrossed in the inflight computer games to attempt sleep. However Singapore thought it was 6am and time to get up, as we only had a day in Singapore we decided not to sleep through it. So we hired a car!!!!! (Luxury)
Hiring a car meant serious bugeting on accomodation so we drove through the nice bits of town like Orchard road and headed for the Chinese Quarter. Here after a few enquiries we found a double ensuite for a tenner - as Rick described it some of it was clean some wasn't!! The bed looked ok except for a lack of covers and the room had a tv. The bathroom didin't and barely got used except by the cockroaches! (No kidding they are huge over here 7cm x 3cm at least). At least we had a toilet rather than squat pan like a lot of places!!
We checked in and went to explore- we took a boat tour of the city which was a good way to see as much as possible, went to a few temples and then ate. This was all we could manage before having to sleep- easier said than done at our hotel!! We got up again at 9pm and went off exploring again. Just round the corner was a massive street market for Chinese New Year. This went on til middnight so we stayed out and soaked up the atmosphere the streets are all so colourful with massive silk decorations amongst the skyscrapers.
We got up at 7.30 to return the car and have just had a shower at the airport which was so nice gotta go as we've booked much needed massages in half hr!!
