We are now in Hluhluwe (pronounced shhh loo eee) and are staying our rustic zulu hut, it is a tiny 8ft x 7ft cabin with hesien sacking on the roof and beach mat things on the wall. It is cosy and very warm apart form last night when the intense heat and muggyness finally gave way to an amazing thunderstorm and 96mm of much needed rain!! Now all the bugs are out we have seen tons of gekkos and lizards and bugs but today Ricky spotted a Forest Cobra in the tree next to our hut, aparently it is venomous but won't kill ya only give ya a headache - yeah fun!!!
Our hostel here has a great pool and i am sat typing this in my bikini slightly damp as i have just got out of the pool. This afternoon we are gonna go to the cheeta survival project and then our plan for tomorrow is gonna be to chill out by the pool and soak up the sun.
We had an awesome christmas day, Ricky surprised me by arranging for us to go on a christmas day safari so apart from the 5am wake up call it was magical and not at all christmassy so it was exactly what i wanted - guess Santa can even find us in Zulu Huts!
We saw so many animals it was unbeleivable and by 10am we saw GIRAFFES so my christmas was complete. After a BBQ lunch we saw Elephants, crocodiles and a Lion sunbathing, the rhiono were huge and the Zebra wanted to come home with us as they kept walking down the road. Jealous yet?
When we got back at 6.30pm (long day) we cooled off in the pool before another BBQ or Braai as they call it for dinner. The only problem was the phones went down on xmas day and this is the first time we have been somewhere with elec and phones at the same time so we could email, and you had better all appreicate this email cos we have just walked 3km in 34'C heat through a Nature Reserve where they warn you about the crocodiles as you cross the bridge -But we have finally found email yipeee!!
