Passage to Bangkok

Text written in: English

After the most glorious time in Vang Vieng, Laos
I have passed back into Thailand yesterday, specififcly staying in a large city without westerners to do some fabric shopping for mom and sis in the main silk producing region: Isaan. I didn't get actual silk today, and we'll see what they have to say about my fabric selection, but got some actual silk hangings in VV from ladies making it right there by loom on the porch. May not have been the best actual deal, but they are beautiful, and when you see them laboring away on them hours a day, it's hard to haggle like Mr. Sweatshop. Two days of hiking and tubing, and the happy cuisine in VV have me feeling most chill, met great Dutch and Japanese girls. My Argentinian roomate Natalia had to move on to the border after her second day to deal with visa stuff, but I stayed on for the extra night and easily could have stayed longer. Actually, assuming it doesn't change to quickly, I picture myself moving to Vang Vieng, Laos in a few years. Oh the stories......
But in a few hours, I board the train for BKK, where I have arranged to stay with my Thai girlfriend Som. The budget is in good shape, personal weight, and actual weight I'm carrying in various gift stuffs. Still have a few days to go and BKK can take it out of you, so I still want to watch the final days budget, cab to airport, departure tax etc. Still I want to treat Som to some royal treatment like a good farang boyfriend. I'll try and get some more pics up on other posts, I'm essentially forgetting to take them at this point, moving into a realm beyond images-
