Right so, I am currently in Brisbane having left Sydney last Sunday after a series of adventures. I took a boat trip around the quite frankly very impressive Sydney Harbour and on my way back from Taronga zoo got a good solid soaking (camera passport, bag and myself) by the wake of a high powered catamaran as the ferry I was on was coming into dock. I walked around the botanical gardens and got the obligatory million or so photos of the harbor (I will post them when I have more time). It rained for a few days in Sydney so that scuppered plans I had to visit the Blue Mountains and what have you. Nevertheless I managed to purchase a car and am now the proud owner of a beige, 1990 ford falcon stationwagon with 360,000 kms and a boot chock a block with all kinds of camping equipment and even a cricket set - I have named my campaign wagon "The Beige Marauder".
Last weekend I went to a Waratahs game where they soundly thrashed the Bulls from SA - 42 t0 12 (c'mon thats pretty bad).
Then on Sunday I began the first leg of my trip up the coast with a visit, along with my my hosts in Sydney Marcus and Sarah, to Marcus' families holiday home in a place called Crescent Head about 450 km's north of Sydney.
After 2 nights there I headed on to Byron Bay where I bumped into a group of English people I had met in SA. Since the weather was crappy and the place was packed I only hung around for the 1 night. I continued on to Mt. Warning National Park and hiked the mountain after a night of listening to the people in the tent site next to me shagging - fun times. The hike was good and apparently if you are on the summit at dawn you are the first person in Oz to see the sun. I didn't do the dawn hike but the view from the top was rewarding nontheless. After my hike I headed on over to Brisbane where I am now, its nice but its just another big city. I head onto Fraser Island this weekend but not before a visit to Australia Zoo where the one and only Steve Irwin resides - I hope he's there.
Thats it for now, more to come soon.
