Clare's Mum Carol and a cruise

After the fun of catching our lunch we borrowed Ngaire's car and drove an hour north up to the Bay of Islands. Incredibly. we met up with Clare's Mum Carol on arrival. Carol has just started a 28 day trip around the Cook Islands, NZ and Fiji and given that she was only an hour away, we thought it would be crazy not to meet up.

It was bizarre how normal we all felt seeing one another, given that we're round the other side of the world! Carol enjoyed telling us about a cruise around the islands that she'd taken during the day, so we booked ourselves on it for Sunday!

Good job were with Clare's Mum because every form of accommodation in the area had no vacancies, so we spent a cosy night in Carol's hotel room. Clare sharing the double with Simon on the floor!!

The Sunday cruise was fantastic. Perfect weather and very relaxing. We saw many amazing sights, including bottle nosed dolphins, mini blue penguins and the famous 'hole in the rock'.

Drove back to John and Ngaire's in time for tea and a drive up to a view point just five minutes from where they live. Chilling out today, then down to Auckland tomorrow to collect the camper van in which we will explore and live during the rest of NZ.
