This week I took a few days off to visit Melbourne again. Last time I went, I didn't really see much of the city since I was at the tennis the whole time. This time I tried to make up for it.
I met up with Jane and Pete on my first day there and we headed down to St Kilda for a walk along the beach there.
On my second day I took a trip to Phillip Island to see the the penguin parade which happens there every day. Phillip Island is home to a colony of Little Penguins (the smallest penguins in the world) and is also a conservation island with a koala sanctuary on it. During the trip I visited a farm where I got to hand feed some kangaroos. Unfortunately the wonbats were asleep so I didn't see them.
On Friday I walked about Melbourne for a few hours, visiting some of the sights and trendy areas of the city. Then in the evening I went to an Aussie rules game. It was the Melbourne Demons versus the Adelaide Crows and was held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It took me a wee while to get an idea of the rules but it was a good atmosphere and a close game. The home team won in the end.
On Saturday I took a tour of some wineries in the Yarra Valley. Another beautiful day and gorgeous scenery. I visited 4 wineries and tasted plenty of lovely wines.
