Alice and Huy got married in Oz, and as many of us couldn't attend, they threw a party in their new flat... Even though we are in London, we could as well may have been in Hong Kong! Almost everyone was oriental.. and it was a Kimono party! though not many of them dressed with one!
I took advantage and pull out of my wardrobe my fancy Japanese Kimono that I bought in '99 and never had the occasion to use! It is a married woman one.. or perhaps a man's one.. yeah, I think it's a man's one, but it looks great so I don't mind... (my mum should teach me these things!!)
Anyway, the party was fantastic, everyone was sooo nice and the cocktails they were making were professional level! (except for the mojito, when someone decided to destroy the mint and put far too much mint in the drinks.. so that they tasted like mouth wash!! they should have asked me! i'm a latino!)
And Anthony's speech beated all records.. he was drunk! First time ever I see him like that... but man he was funny! Managed to explain how Al and Huy met and got together in some party, where apparently (not sure if it is true or a joke) they were both kind of... tipsy and got together... Now, a few years later, they are wife and husband...
I've met all these people: Al, Huy, Anthony, Danijel, Deborah, Andy...whilst working in the Olympic project in Sidney. They are just great people, I think I've never seen any of them angry.. and they are sooo not the prototype of the Aussie concept we got of The Walkabout drunkens... rugby maniacs...
I love them all and hopefully we'll keep in touch for a long long time.. they represent a nice part of my life, where I had the dream of working in Oz in 2000.
They are a bit crappy shots but anyway, for the memories...
