Heading back to London

Text written in: English

There comes a time where you have to question the benefit of saving GBP 200 on a plane ticket when it takes you a full 15 hours of travel.

These were the questions I was faced with as I boarded the Swiss Air flight to Zurich. We got into the plane on time and then spent one and a half hours on the runway waiting for instructions to take off. I managed to catch up on some sleep I had been missing.

One casual observation is that Swiss Air does manage to have some very attractive passengers. So, there is at least one good reason to fly with them. The fact that they don't serve compliamentary food and drinks to people that are travelling economy class on a journey under three hours sort of is a pain, but a credit card or some francs can easily fix that. The funny thing is that the price difference wasn't that much so I am not sure who they are kidding by not serving food.

I digress, the flight then got to Zurich, I then had to go thru a further security check as I left the plane, then another one to re-enter the transfer area.. very odd. I am sure they know their business better than I do, and I don't mind going thru a few more checks if it means my plane isn't going to be severely stopped by exploision. This made me late for my connecting flight. Which meant that I got to wait around for a further hour in Zurich. Yippee!

To make a long story short, 8 hours travel, 7 hours on the way to Frankfurt from London. 15 hours. Isn't a working day 8?

To top things off, they lost my luggage.
