Religious Icon Nightmare

I decided to spend the day being a tourist. I got a book (time out), looked in it, walked out the door and started taking pictures.

It is an interesting palce. I was staying down at a place called Restrantdores, where there are... as the name suggests: lots of places to eat and drink.

It is also down by the docks, where the ferry's all seem to leave from. So I got on one and went accross the river (20 mins) and decided to go up and see the large statue of god looking over the waterway.

I have never seen such a tall 'man made' rock structure before. It's huge. The whole experience was a bit of a religious icon nightmare as they were extracting cash out of the truely faithful at the top of the tower.. and it wasn't tastefull tat either. Yuck. Thank God I don't need any in my home.
