Healesville Sanctuary

Text written in: English

We took a quick spin out to Healesville to visit the zoo there to give Cat's parents a chance to see some more Australian wildlife (in case close encounters with koalas and seeing a kangaroo-populated golf course wasn't sufficient). Fortunately, we love these places and were more than happy to see some more animals. We saw all kinds of fun birds and beasts -- Cat's mom chased a wallaby and we all spent a good long while watching the platypuses. Cat's favourite part was definitely dingo-hugging, though. She had a grin on her face perhaps matched only by the one when she was swimming with a baby seal

Another lifelong dream fulfilled: dingo petting! This wombat has had that stuffed animal since she was a baby orphan brought in to the sanctuary; she still curls up with it. Catherine's mom followed this wallaby around for a while; he didn't seem to mind. Spoonbills. Rare honeyeater. Happy happy dingo huggery! Echidnas. These have got to be the second-weirdest animals in the world (behind platypuses, their closest relative).
