Koalas in the wild at last

Text written in: English

Well, we've seen lots of koalas -- we've even gotten to hug a couple. But never in the wild. The woman at the front desk of the hostel we stayed at in Apollo Bay recommended we turn off at a little road called Grey River Road in Kennet River, near Wye River, and have a look around because there are usually wild koalas hanging out in the trees around there. Expecting to see at most one or two from a great distance, we did. We saw lots of them, just chilling out being koalas, all over the road. One of them was so close that if it weren't for his vicious claws we could have petted him. Made for some great photos!

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree... Sleepy koala with his foot in his ear. Snacking koala. It's almost like he was posing for us.
