We'd been planning to go back to the old swimmin' hole one day after work for a while, and this was the day. Jody, Dominic, Matt, and 4 or 5 other people from the hostel piled into cars and went. Cat had too much to do and had to stay behind, but this turned out to be for the best. Every single person who went got some kind of injury. The worst incident happened to Paul, the Korean who works with Jody, whom she had spent the whole day convincing to come with us and jump off the waterfall. He finally worked up his courage after watching Jody, Matt and Dominic go, and plunged in. The problem is that, what with the language barrier and all, he had somehow not mentioned to anyone that he couldn't actually swim. So Dominic, Jody and Matt swam calmly to shore, and then looked back to see Paul flailing helplessly. Dominic hauled him out, but now we were all on the wrong side of the river and had to swim back. Matt and Jody carried a terrified Paul across, where he thanked everyone profusely for saving his life. He also promised to tell everyone in Korea that Canadians are heroes (Jody is from Saskatchewan). And every time he sees Dominic, Jody, or Matt, he calls us The Lifesaver.
