The Otago Peninsula is famous for its wildlife, so we found a tour to go see it. First stop was the albatross breeding centre, where hundreds of birds were nesting on the cliffs. Then we went down to a seal colony, where there were dozens of seals lying on the rocks and swimming along the beach. The last stop was Sandfly Bay, where we saw yellow-eyed penguins coming ashore for the night. They like to make their nests out of sight from the water, though, so after they got to the beach it took them about 15 minutes to waddle and hop their way up a huge hill; it was pretty amusing to see penguins trying to jump over rocks bigger than themselves.
Next morning we went back to the peninsula to see Larnach Castle, the only castle in New Zealand, and the Dunedin Aquarium, which had a few sharks and a tank where we could pick up starfish and anemones.
