Home of Lord of the Rings

We really liked Wellington. We especially liked seeing Return of the King in the home of Lord of the Rings. We also rather liked the place we stayed at in Wellington, Beethoven House. It's run by a belligerent and quite possibly slightly deranged gentleman named Allan. There was a puppy called Delias running about the hostel, and breakfast was an experience unto itself.

A Nazgul attempts to eat the Embassy Theatre, where LOTR premiered. We (well, mostly Catherine) were very upset to find out that the top 100 books, as voted by New Zealanders and as displayed in Whitcoull's, placed all four Harry Potter books above any real literature. Cat came very close to trying to smuggle the puppy out of Beethoven House when we left. Allan, Beethoven House's slightly insane owner and manager. Some of the choice decor in Beethoven House. Delias, the puppy Cat wanted to kidnap. A cave troll attacks the Wellington Civic Centre. Mr. Thank You! The LOTR fever has even infiltrated advertising. This ad is directly across from a building-sized poster of Legolas with drawn bow.
