And they didn't even have the decency to be jerks.

We got all geared up to get mad at Malaysia Airlines when we found out they'd cancelled our flight from Vienna to Kuala Lumpur (stopover on the way to Auckland). They've replaced it with a flight that stops in Frankfurt. This means that we fly out at seven rather than at eleven in the morning, so we'll be sleeping in the airport this Thursday evening. We stormed into Malaysia Air's office in Vienna, all ready to get really mad, but were immediately placated by the exceptionally helpful gentleman who served us and told us that for the inconvenience Malaysian would be offering us a day-use hotel room, transportation to and from the airport, and lunch and dinner in Kuala Lumpur. It's hard to stay mad at such an offer. Matt was disappointed that he didn't get a raise a ruckus.
Anyway, we have a one-and-a-half hour flight followed by four hours in Frankfurt. Then it's twelve and a half hours to Kuala Lumpur, where we have a fourteen-hour layover, and then it's ten hours to Auckland. The really weird thing is that because of time zone differences, we lose a day somewhere along the line, so even though we leave on a Friday morning and all this takes only thirty-eight hours, we don't get there until Sunday. I find that very perplexing.
