No iPods :-(

Text written in: English

Once upon a time when I was in Quito (Ecuador), someone mentioned that you could buy an iPod for US$40 in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. Finding myself sooooo close to the city, with some time on my hands I thought I'd go check it out, knowing I'd be forever wondering if I didn't at least look.

Anyway, I looked and asked specifically for an iPod (which I assume is said the same in Spanish, Portugese and English) and was only shown countless MP3 players, cameras, DVD players etc etc. Not one iPod was to be found in the four hours I was there. Bugger!! But at least I can go away happy knowing I wasn't missing out on the bargain. And I did buy another memory card for my camera (paid about the same as I would in the UK), and some cheap Clinique stuff.

Not sure I liked the place. It's a hot and smelly city, with many people trying to sell you many things ranging from socks and combs, to abdominal training devices and wide screen TVs. And not that many bargains to be seen. At least I didn't think so. Gameboys, PS2s etc were all about the same as UK prices, even more expensive in some places.

Another I got another stamp in my passport. That'll make up for not getting one when I went to Brazil. Ha ha!!
