Baihe...The Gateway To Changbai Shan...

Text written in: English

PERSONAL HYGIENE STATUS: Hotel had a shower, but failed to mention that the water seemed to be directly tapped from the mountains (or thermostat set to about 0 degrees). Did not want to risk hypothermia, so no showering occured. Was a bit fustier, but still not concious of people backing away from us. Deodorant still working its magic. Teeth brushing occured (complete with funny tasting tap water, thorough spitting required).

Small village. Pretty run down. Small high street. Nearby villages cool. Rip-off merchants who charged us 20 quai, each, more than the Chinese tourists for a night at the hotel. Only a £1 more, but takes the piss. China tends to do this though.

the 7hour journey from Tonghua to Baihe involved a lot of corn on the cob sightings... another corn-on-the-cob delivery. the village rejoices. HURRAY! blurry buildings can also be found in Jilin provence... choo choo. a local chinese train. who switched off the colour? a bit of prententious black and white photography.....its not even that good.... all of these pictures are taken from the train. hence why they are a bit shitty. sorry. it looked not unlike the hard-seat train that me and JP took the day before for 7 hours. but this morning we were on a hard sleeper, which was luxurious in comparison. the KTV magic even stretches to the smallest villages in Jilin provence.... a logging family... vibrant greens were to be found in the Jilin countryside more moody countryside some buildings break up the peaceful countryside...
