A Day of Rest

Text written in: English

I am really in good space today and have been since arriving in Cambodia. Travel that is intellectually stimulating, challenging, and in a warm climate are the hallmarks for the pinnacle of my travels. I have always known this but I think it became even more obvious to me this trip as I have travelled from what I considered boring/easy travels to the present space I am in which is brilliant. I am so at ease in this environment and find that each day I go to sleep feeling like I had a full day....that's because I have. It is physically challenging as well as mentally taxing. The past two days I have headed out early in the morning with my books and have walked amongst the ruins of Angkor with books that explain each of the historical areas I was walking in. At night I would return fatigued but happy. Today I decided to take it easy so I finished reading a book that was incredible. I was one man's account of his time spent in the prison in Phnom Penh under Pol Pot.
It is about 3pm now and HOTTTTTTTTT. In order to go to the ruins you need to buy a one-day, three-day, or one-week pass so I opted for the three-day pass. This is my final day so I am going to head back to my two favorite temples....Angkor and the Bayon. I will try and catch the sunset from the Bayon as the sunsets in this part of the world are truly amazing.

Later in the evening I window shopped until I came across an art gallery that was the amateur works of children up to age 18. The profits from their artwork went directly back into their art supplies.....it was incredible! It is an excellent way of contributing to the community at the local level. The picture cost $10US which was worth every penny. The kid in the picture is the artist of the print.....Mom and Dad, the picture should be coming in the mail one of these days.
