I've been incredibly busy lately. I used to live in London and so there are lots of little papertrails that been quietly festering while people send me letters that are never delivered and need hours of patient nursing on the phone. So in between work, meetings, catching up with people (usually over a few "quiet pints") and popping into various offices and branches for those things that I only really had time for one sightseeing occasion: the Tate Modern.
The Tate Modern occupies a huge brick building, presumably built around as a power station around the times of the industrial revolution in London. It resembles a huge Stalinist monument, with a towering squared chimney and perfectly symmetrical grey brick surfaces. It's so ugly it's beautiful. And it's free to visit, so it's definitely worth a trip. You can get there by walking across the Millenium Bridge which joins from near St. Paul's or Mansion House on the north side of the Thames, or walk from Southwark on the south.
