I got sick just before the flight and didn't spend as much time catching waves or partying as I would have liked to, but I got to see some great scenery, and the place "Bolare" which was a bit out of the way from central Kuta (about 30 mins drive in a place called Canngu) but was pretty much empty, super chilled and just the thing.
We got the rooms down to 17 a night by saying our friend Peter stayed there, but I suspect it was also because of the lack of guests ever since the bomb in a bar in Kuta. A lot of the locals depend on tourism to keep them above the poverty line, so I'm sure they are more upset about it than we are. Being so far from the action was great, and for the occasional trip into Kuta, the taxi was (a relatively high price of) 30,000-40,000 Rps (3-ish).
I got through two books in the first two days there, and had to spend the last day shopping :oD
Fiona (Gerald's sister) had come to Indonesia for Gerald's birthday, but Gerald went to London for his birthday, so the excursion to Bali was really just to escape the smog of Jakarta and see the sun a bit. Fiona is a tour-guide by profession and gets to travel pretty widely, so she was editing video from her trips which will show up on BoD eventually :oD
