The Venice of India!

Hello from Udaipur!

Got here this morning after a sleeper train here (which was so bloody hot!!!!). I was on the top bunk and Rob on the middle, and they turned the lights off really early so we got our torches out and were writing notes to each other and passing it through the gap!

Udaipur is lovely (thanks Bryony!). Staying here for 4 nights before going to Agra for one night, back to Delhi and then straight off to Singapore.

Udaipur has much more sleepy feel to it compared to the other places - almost feels like a seaside resort! We decided to pay a bit extra (a whole 12 pounds!) and stay in the rooftop room which has panoramic views and AC - amazing! The room is really homely and colourful, with mosaics (?!) on the walls of peacocks and a four poster bed. My only slight concern is that there seems to be a family of lizards living in our room - I really annoyed Rob by screaming everytime I saw them and saying we might have to change rooms because I wouldn't be able to sleep! He says we're going to have to put up with a lot worse when we're in the jungle! I think I'll just have to have a few drinks tonight to conk me out.

There is a monsoon on the horizon (which is good because the lake is empty!!) so we were going to go up to the palace on the mountain but can't til tomorrow now. So spending some time in the internet cafe and then might watch a screening of 'Octopussy' - they put it on at 7pm every night in practically every hotel because it was filmed in Udaipur.

Might do this cooking course tomorrow - you pay 6 pounds each for a 5 hour Indian cooking lesson and then eat your results at the end! Rob will get inspiration and perhaps our next business venture will be a 'Same Same but Indian'!

OMG, yesterday I had the most amazing Indian head massage - I kind of wished I had a headache because it would've cured it! She used almond and coconut oil and it was truly amazing! i asked if she could do Rob too but she said 'no men'! So he just waited in the AC waiting room! Cost 2 pounds 50 for half an hour!

Saw a funny advert yesterday advertising a skin cream for men that 'guarantees to make your skin at least 2 shades lighter'! Found that so strange after all the adverts we have at home for fake tan!

Can I also just apologise for my posey profile pic on this, was hoping to update to one of us here but forgot to bring the cable, so have to wait 'til we find somewhere to burn it to disc, and just hope I don't lose my camera in the meantime!

Also, this website has got the map wrong for some reason - Jaipur is to the left of Delhi, that really confused me when I saw that!

Much love as always xxxx
