Au retour en Paris

Text written in: English

Our return to Paris ended up being an hour late as the train sat somewhere too long and delayed us. Anyway, we finally made it, hopped the RER back to Julie's, and both of us collided in the doorway trying to get to the shower first as we were both dying for one. Actually, Julie had some business to attend to when we got back, so I ended up showering first, and man did it feel good. And then putting on clean clothes!! You don't realize how nice a shower and clean clothes are until you haven't had them for a while.

One of Julie's tasks was checking her email for her Working Holiday Visa to Australia. She had applied for it before I had arrived, but it was taking a bit for them to get back to her. Anyway, it did come through and I was ecstatic for her as she really wanted it as it would be her last chance for one (I'm too old for one, and already have a Permanent Working Visa so don't need one anyway).

I spent some time backing up photos, etc once Julie was done with her tasks and headed for the shower. We then did a slide show of all our pics, and we've got some good ones from both Paris and Venice. At about 12:30 we headed over to Julie's parents again for lunch that had been pre-arranged before we left. I think I get a better feel for how the French eat - we had light appetizers and a licquer, then headed for the table where we had multiple courses. First course was home made Foie Gras on baguettes. Second course was Tomato Farcies (stuffed with a type of sausage) and Stuffed Zucchini and Pomme de Terre purée (puréed mashed potatoes). Again, Julie convinced me to have wine (it was only polite) - it was Loupiac (a sweet wine).

I then had my rubber arm twisted to play kick ball with Julie's nephew Mylo. We had a great time outside, though sadly I was having a hard time understanding what he was saying to me most of the time. We were then called back inside for desert where we had tiramisu. It was an amazing lunch and I quite enjoyed the whole experience, though I think I'm having some troubles adjusting to the richer dishes than I am used to.

We then had to head back to Julie's so I could pack my stuff, leave behind some things at Julie's as I won't need them before I pass back through Paris and make sure I had everything in order.

QOTD: Why is transportation always late when you are in a hurry?
