so we took an overnight bus. it was quite a comfortable one. we took the tourist bus with semibeds and a toilet. we even got served some food.
i really enjoyed that. but what was a bit annoying was this kid doing magical tricks. his voice was so annoying. they just do this for a little while and then they want some money for it. last time it was a kid singing. i'm not too keen on that. cause usually their voices are not so spectacular... i think it would be much better for those kids to go to school and do their homework in the evening. cause the school doesn't cost anything in this country!!
well, back to my story. so we took the overnight bus. everything went really fine. we had already booked a hostel and the people from it were supposed to pick us up. of course there was no one to be seen as we arrived. well, taxidrivers who were trying to sell you flights over the nasca lines or beds in a hostel but no one from our hostel. then we saw this little lady who was also trying to sell some stuff. and then she overheard us saying "friends hostel" so she took us there. i told them that i'd written an email and stuff. she didn't seem to care. well, we got our room in the end so everything turned out alright :-)
on the bus stop we met this french guy Romain who asked us if we were gonna fly the lines and if he could join us. we were and he could. so we dropped our bags off at the hostel and went to the airport. it's very small and really small cessna planes. we checked out a couple of places and then decided to fly with one company. so we took off. i don't think i would get into a plane like that at home, but i'm on holiday. i think the barriers are lower... so anyway we took off and saw the nasca lines from above. it was a 30 minutes flight (even though we were promised 35 to 40). the nasca lines are formations in the ground. they are really big and it's a mystery on how they got there. i think it used to be stones and then they took the stones away and now it's just lines. since it's the desert it never rains and they didn't wash away. so you have a monkey, an astronaut, a parrot, hands etc. we saw something like 15 of them. it was nice. not so spectacular. the flight was cool though :-)
then we just hung out in nasca. walked around for a bit. really not much to see. we went for a chocolate cake which was alright and went for some dinner. then we went to bed. we promised ourselves to leave that place as soon as possible. everyone seemed to be staring at us and it was a very dirty city. so we decided to leave the next day for ica to do sandboarding :-)
