arrived! let the adventure begin

Text written in: English

so, i'm here. on another continent in a new city. and in a very big city. lima has 8 million inhabitants! that's even more than the whole of switzerland. so imagine it being quite scary when you arrive here after an almost 24 hour trip and you ride in a taxi where you think the driver is a kamikaze. man, he drove so wildly i was really surprised we didn't hit any one.  i was really pleasantly surprised by the hostel. really nice staff and full of people. then i realised that you cannot lock the door of your room. hmmm. and then they didn't know what bed was mine. all the 4 beds looked taken. so they just said, take this one... maybe that is normal for this country? i still found it quite strange. but i'm gonna find out soon whether it's always like that. well. anyway. it was saturday night and i was really tired. after hanging out of a bit, taking a shower and enjoying the warm weather outside i decided to call it a day. it was 21h here. ... good plan normally. but i'm in a youthhostel. so until at least midnight there was music on full blast, the tv was on too and the smells on noises of the kitchen came through the open window. gosh. (i couldn't close the window cause the room smelled of mouldy towels... ) hehe. well. i was tired enough so i fell asleep anyway. i kept on waking up too. but that's alright. i'm on holidays :-)

oh and i had a really funny conversation with my room mate. i was half-asleep as he came into the room and stood around in front of my bed. he was making little "pissed off" noises. so i said hi. he was "hey dude, you're in my bed" haha. nice!! i explained to him that the staff didn't know what bed was mine so they had given me this one. he then said that they were supposed to make the other one (that had loads of his stuff on it, too). but he kindly left the bed to me anyway. since i was already in it... :-) i said he didn't need to worry cause i was leaving early in the morning the next day. he said "you should stay another day". and i said "no, i have a plane to catch". well, so much for conversations in lima.... it can only get better :-)

it's 5.30 am now. i'm wide awake because of the jet lag. so i decided to use this time for a little blog entry.

as i said i'm gonna catch a plane in about 4 hours and fly to cusco. let's see what happens there.
