Czech This Place Out

Text written in: English

After leaving the comfort of Berlin, we headed off to one of the best preserved cities in all of Europe.  Somehow avoiding the bombs of WWII that ravaged most of Europe some 60 years ago, Prague has maintained it old world feel that is unrivaled in all of the Europe that I have seen.  For blocks and blocks, maybe even kilometers, there is no modern buildings to speak of.  It is quite an amazing site after you truly start to pay attention to it.  It has the feeling of being dropped in a Shrek movie or any other fairy tale consistenting of a big bad king sitting up on top of his kingdom, the prince riding below to rescue the princess somehow enslaved by this bad king.  It is easy to imagine when in Prague...but boy oh boy does it seem that all other tourist of the world have also discovered this.  Just as well preserved as Prague is, it is also over run with tourist.  Ole and I both agreed that it would be a good idea if they all left...except us of course, but I don't forsee that happening barring another return to communism and the closeing of its borders.  Hmm....Maybe George Bush could build a fence around the city and save it from the tourist?

On the famous and crowded Charles bridge Looking up to the Hrad (Castle) from the Charles Bridge The beautiful rooftops of Prague As Susanne said, "They sure do like red roofs here". Looking over the Charles Bridge toward the Hrad Looking into "Old Town" My favorite church is hardly visible in the background Tyn Church. Just one of the most gothic buildings I've ever seen. Aren't we all just a bunch of sheep. The famous astronomical clock...there - now you don't have to waste your time watching it go off. Dane acting cool. Fred and Grethe Dancing...at least that is what they say. Apartment buildings with great decorations on the roof. Not a bad music venue, and the music was quite good as well. Can't you picture it...the captured princess yelling for help from the top...what kind of drugs were these guys on when they designed these buildings? Charles bridge and Hrad at night. Walking down from the Hrad. Tyn church at night. They were having a jazz concert. Quite a setting for some music I must say. Beautiful Dane Only way to get a picture not loaded with people...ask for rain. Church up in the castle.
