So, here I am, back in Denver. Quick update to let you know I survived the roadtrip from NOLA to CO.
To recap: Hands on New Orleans is the MOST AMAZING PROJECT EVER. It was awesome to be able to lead volunteers from all over - everyone has got something interesting to say. It was great living in Perry Point and Sacramento teams and I love New Orleans.
Roadtrip back to Denver was really fun. We stopped in Tyler, TX (and got to play with other AmeriPeople at the hotel) and Amarillo, TX. We went to cadillac ranch and then also stopped in Boise City, OK to see a giant dinosaur. To our pleasant surprise, not only was there a giant dinosaur, but an awesome museum about the pioneers!
Being back in Denver is kind of odd. Haven't been here in quite some time. It's nice to see everyone, but it's still hard to really wrap my head around that I'm back in Denver. Walsh Hall still smells the same! Friday I go home for a week (yay) then I start Summer of Service. Will be leading groups of 14-17 year olds on a mini-NCCC experience. Should be fun! I wish I would be able to go on disaster though. They are sending people to the flooding in the mid-west. That is so amazing. It's interesting/sad how little coverage there is compared to NOLA flooding - even though ultimately it comes down to the levees sucking. However, I did see one of the guys from the Perry Point team who was sent there on CNN this morning.
The weather here is BEAUTIFUL. The air, albeit thin, is much nicer than the cloud-like air that is New Orleans. I miss New Orleans though.
