Slept rather well last night.
After breakfast (Poori and tea) I went back to the Internet place and used it for another 2 hours, working out the rest of the trains I need to catch so that I can go book them today. So once I had that figured, I walked to the train station, slightly further than the walk to the KSTDC office.
At the reservation office, there was an organised Que, not really what I had expected. Before, there is usually just a mass of people surrounding the booths, but here everyone was sitting in a seat, and once someone had finished at the booth, the next person in line got up from their seat at the end of the row, and everyone else shuffled along a seat. How civilised!
After maybe 15mins, it was my turn, and I handed over my pile of papers with the info of the trains I wanted tickets for. I got a ticket to Bangalore for this evening, as I had to catch an overnight train to Hospet there this evening at 10:30. But most of the other tickets I tried to book where already sold out, and so I was put on waiting list. This isn't as big a deal as you may think. A surprising number of people cancel their tickets, and so if you're low enough now on the waiting list, you usually get a space.
After handing over a substantial amount of Rupees, I walked back into town, and to the Market. There were lots of stalls selling fruit and veg, all neatly stacked up in piles, quite similar to what I saw in Malawi.
There were also some stalls selling powers and oils and at one of these stalls I met a man who showed me his book of accreditation's, and in it was a picture of Kim, David and another guy I had met in Mamalapuram!
I got some nice photos of all the colours within the market before heading back to the Internet place.
Mysore, the city itself, is a really nice place. There are loads of monuments, flowerbeds, proper roads with proper pavements, round-a-bouts that actually get used, trees and parks.
A thali for late lunch, then I packed up and trekked it over to the train station. I arrived rather hot and sweaty funnily enough. I think my bags me in total must weigh at least 100kgs! Ill check at some point next time I see some scales (usually at the train stations).
This is the first time I'm travelling in sleeper-class, and its actually quite nice! Three tiers; the upper permanent but the middle collapses down to form a seat with the lower one. I was on upper, which meant I was away from everyone below me and could lie down and try and sleep. I managed to stack my bags in such a way that I could still lie down straight and that they wouldn't fall down either.
A little more than 3 hours later, I arrived at Bangalore City Junction.
