Lightening

Stumbled out of bed fairly early this morning, and some water and paracetamol later, was feeling much better. :)

David joined me in being awake early, and we went and had some toast. A few others emerged as the morning went on. View was again beautiful, but a bit more cloudy that yesterday.

Packed up and said our goodbyes to Olivier, Lenny, Michele, David, Kim, Jared and Clair. They're continuing their travels from now on, so won't be seeing them for a while, or maybe even ever again :(

The bus down was both good and bad. Good, because the scenery was great, fantastic even. But bad because the driver was mental and raced now the hill that book us maybe 4 hours to get up, in under 2.

We had a little stop halfway, were the driver had a chai, and half the Indians on the bus got off and threw up. I hadn't felt that great coming down either, but had found that if I was trying to take pictures of the great scenery, the sickness just went away.

So survived the journey down, but man it was hot when we got down to normal level.

On the way back from Madurai, there was very dark skies ahead, and lots of lightening. I forgot to mention before, but at the weekend when it was dark, the sky kept lighting up from lightening, but there was no thunder as it was miles away.

It seemed like it was going to rain again, but we must have just missed it.

Rachida found out, while trying to confirm her flights, that an internal flight she had booked to the airport she was flying home from tomorrow, had been cancelled, and she was somehow going to have to make it all the way up the coast in 24 hours.

Back at the Office, I met a few new volunteers who had just come in and a couple who were changing placement. We went to dinner together, then stayed up playing cards on the balcony, lightening still illuminating the sky.
