Off to Kodaikanal

Text written in: English

This weekend we're going to Kodaikanal, in the hills north west of Madurai. We're leaving the office at 12 for lunch, then catching buses after that.

This means, unfortunately, that I won't be able to see the checkup on the skin graft patient, or another C-section that's to be performed at 1pm!

Bowl movements have returned to the appendicitis man, which means he can now have oral fluids, and soon solid food.

Food as always when you don't want it too, took for ever to come at the Bell, but we managed to catch all our buses, ending up in Kodaikanal around 9:45. The drive up was like a drive up into the alps, loads of turns and crazy drivers overtaking you. The corners were very tight, and at one point we scraped sides with another bus coming down!

We had to stand for most of the trip, as we caught the bus halfway along its route, so all seats were taken. This meant I wasn't sick though, because I was standing right at the front seeing all our near misses and the drops of the sides of the road.

Ate some noodles at a restaurant still open, then we wandered off into the dark to find our hotel.

We'd booked the cheapest beds, the dorms, at 1.25 pounds a night. The room was basically a shed, with 6 single beds shoved together to make one big long bed for 10 people or something like that. It was really really damp, probably because we were in the clouds often.

Ben and I had just sort of gone to sleep, wrapped up in many blankets when the others who'd we'd left in Mamallapuram last weekend turned up at around 1.

They weren't that happy with the room either, but to be honest, no one really cared, we were just tired, but still ended up chatting till around 3!
