Tango y Futbol

Text written in: English

The other night Amy and I went to a tango club and watched some different levels of Tango lessons.  It was amazing to watch, it looks so complicated!  You could tell which group was the beginners, as they were simply learning how to move forwards and backwards.  One of the advanced groups we were watching were doing some major fancy footwork.  It looks like so much fun, but I bet it would take a lifetime to learn!!

Last night a big group of us went to the Boca Jr´s vs. Argentino´s Jr´s Futbol game at the Boca Stadium. It was quite an experience!  I´ve never really been that into soccer, and have never watched it on TV, but it´s a whole different story when you´re at the game!  It´s so lively, and everyone is so into it! The stadium holds 57,000 people, and much of that is standing room only.  There is no roof, which must suck when it rains, but I bet the fans don´t really care!  Throughout the entire game, the entire stadium was chanting and singing their soccer themes, which is amazing to see and hear.  We all got quite into it, jumping and clapping along with everyone else. It would have been more fun if we´d known the words to the songs they were chanting!

There was a small section for the visiting teams fans, which was located above us, and was completely segregated from everyone else.  Throughout the entire game, the two groups were yelling at each other and hurling insults (most of which we couldn´t understand).  Boca (the home team) won 4-0, and by the end the visiting fans were throwing things on the field and trying to spit on the home team fans below.  Which only spurred them on!!  When the game was over, we realized we were locked in and couldn´t get out of the stadium until the visiting teams fans had cleared the area.  It sounds overly dramatic, but after seeing the way the fans react to each other, it makes alot of sense!

While crowded around the exit waiting to be released like caged animals, I ended up meeting another Vancouverite, who was in town visiting a friend of his.  It´s a small world, and Canadians are taking it over! LOL

Today Amy and I are saying goodbye to our friends here, and heading to Bariloche to start our camping trip through Patagonia.  This should be fun!

I am sure we´ll be passing through towns (hopefully with internet cafe´s) on our way south, but if you don´t hear from me for the next couple weeks, don´t worry!
