Miracles

I went to a Miracle Convention last night - there are many evangelical events all over the place and this one was just down the street from our hotel so I went to check it out.... 

Lots of loud shouting - almost screaming, calling on God, speaking in tongues (-I've never seen that before its bizarre!!), movement, dancing, singing, rocking and very active worship.   It was really - after you got over the frightening 'what are they doing' - aspect - uplifting and pretty amazing to see everyone getting so involved and into it, and there was a mix of rich and poor looking Nigerians.  At one stage we had to turn to our neighbours, hold their hands and say passionately, 'I am my destiny'.  It felt like it was a combination of a smoozy Barry Manilow / gospel choir concert, an inspirational motivational talk, a church, simply being with loads of nutters freaking out, and a loud nightclub. 

Great music though and far more fun than any church service I've been to before, though disappointingly though unsurprisingly (to me!) I didn't see any miracles.
