Heebey Jeebies and the Three Bears

Text written in: English

We left Foz at a very respectable time of 10am and set about on a very long journey towards Paraty.  Due to the distance, we stopped en-route for the first of two free camps.  Setting up camp under the cover of a beautiful forest in the middle-of-nowhere next to Chale do Mel, an organic shop run by a friendly old woman named Gleice Mary, she's so friendly that she allowed us the use of the ammenities on the grounds surrounding her premises.  So it turned out to be a delightful and very comfortable free camp.

Strange but true, there was a very large wooden dolls house in the middle of the forrest.  Setting aside the kids cooker and wooden crib I decided to set up my Thermarest and sleeping bag in this prime real estate of a campsite.  Later deciding to sleep in my tent after realising that I'd be eaten alive by mosquitos or even fearing that the three bears may return and ask 'who's been sleeping in my bed'!  With my mind always running into overdrive when camping in forests, I always get the heebey jeebies during the night thinking about horror flicks like The Blair Witch Project and Jeepers Creepers!

Tomorrow we set off for our next free camp at Bertioga.

Useful Information for Travelers:

Chale do Mel. Situated somewhere in the middle of nowhere, on a roadside between Foz and Bertioga on the right hand side driving north.  Selling everything organic, local honey, all things pickled and decafinated coffee and most of all - service with a smile..... I can't recommend this place enough.
