Corfu (again)

having had an opportunity to see this lovely little spot a few days ago, this time around we decided to do an organized tour of the mountain area.  So after breakfast we headed out to our tour bus which took us for a short visit in Corfu old city.  As it was St Spyrios day, their patron saint, the main streets were about to be closed off for a large procession, however we had a short visit and then back on the coach to head to a Franciscan monsatery which was sweet.  We then took a very narrow road, with hair pin bends that took our breath away.  The coach driver was fantastic as I am sure that a lesser driver would have had us fall over the cliff a dozen times over.  As we approached Palakoistits (?) the narrow streets of the little town meant that we had less that 6 inchces either side of the bus.  Fun and games when a marching band coming down the street with cars following it, had a head on with us.  But rather than the band backing up, the bus did!  And around curves too.  At the top of the hill we were given a plate of Greek appetisers and a glass of wine.  The wine wasn't real flash but as were are the most polite Aussie travellers that we are, we drank it!  Have to tell you, that we are soooooooooooooo over East Coast Americans.  We are ready to reduce their number instantly the moment someone announces that it is open season.

After our tour, it was back to the ship which was just in time to witness a magnificent storm approaching.  Thunder rolled in and lighting hit the water.  The rain only lasted a few minutes, but the sight was spectacular.  a lazy afternoon saw Jo have a lie down and Karen a changed hair colour.

A private happy hour with some of our Aussie connections and then as we had actually been asked by a number of people why we hadn't been to the happy hours in the bars of late, we made a late, but grand entrance to happy hour in the Charleston Lounge.  Can you believe it that the drink waitress actually now catches up with us druing the day, to ensure that we are going to make an a ppearance at the happy hour lounge that she is working in.  Other passengers are even asking for us by name to the staff, to find out where we are.  Could it be that they actually want to avoid us, or make sure we are there to add fun to the event.  I leave it to you to decide.

After dinner it was time to Karen to hit the Karaoke circuit.  Patsy Clines, Who's sorry now, will never be the same again!  Jo went to the Filipino Folkloric show.  Time for bed, but thankfully we get to put our clocks back an hour.
