Leaving Rome

Had a very long and tiring flight from Singapore to Frankfurt.  Who want's to eat steak and potatoes at 3am?  Didn't sleep all that well cramped in our seats.  Had less than an hour in Frankfurt to change to connecting flight.  Very poorly sign posted and rude Germans.  The security points were very slow - only one point was open which further delayed us getting to our gate.  Thank goodness our flight to Rome was running late as we would not have made it.  Some didn't.

Arrived tired and grumpy into Rome.  Baggage took for ever to come out.  It seemed that the bags were dropped one by one onto the belt by just one baggage handler!!!  Finally got to hotel at 1030 am and of course we couldn't get into our room until 2pm.  We were not happy little campers!  Sat in bar and lovely Marco served us a couple of wines each meet someother Aussies and sussed out who we want to avoid!

Finally hit our room had a shower and rest then went out for a coffee just locally.

Back to room and to bed - that was Monday!

02 Oct

Went on tour of Colosseum and St Peter's Basillica very magnificant.  Came back to hotel for a quick refreshment then out for a good walk around.

Visited the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon had a gelati and pizza for lunch.

Went out for dinner with some Aussies we met had a lovely time.  Learnt the lesson about just asking for a Latte - you only get hot milk!
