Finally... Something Modern!

Text written in: English

We finally left La Paz and rode a very fancy bus to Cochabamba- the fourth largest city in Bolivia. We arrived and a very pretty city, with big buildings, plazas, cathedrals and lovely parks. And most importantly- beautiful weather! Sunny and warm! We spent our entire first day just walking around the city and had a great time doing it. It´s much more modern then the cities we saw until now, and the whole atmosphere reminded us of London. There was even a red city-tour bus with 2 floors just like in London! When we got tired of walking around we sat down to play some cards in the main plaza, and on the way heard some strange men trying to immitate hyde park by speaking lots of nonsense.

The next day we got up early to go paragliding (mitznachey rechifa). We drove to a place overlooking Cochabamba and we settled in the landing zone. Then one by one they took us to a mountain high in the area and each one has his turn with a guide. For those who don´t know what it is- you just start running down-hill with an open mitznach tied to your back, and then the mitznach just rises to the air and you rise with it. The guide then stirrs it around in the air until you land. We went with two other Israelis and they went before me and Liron. When it was Liron´s turn the winds started changing and there was no possibility of continuing. So we ended up going the day after. So after we returned we went with the other 2 Israelis to Roy and Linda´s house. They are an American couple that for years welcome Israelis into their house (they have a book with pictures of all the people who visited them and I saw Neta Ben Ezra in the same picture with 2 girls from my kamad...). They serve dinner and in the mean while give you a lecture about Dat. I know it doesn´t sound like something that would interest me but I was actually fascinated! This couple left their home and moved with their 5 children to live in the jungles with an Indian tribe, in order to lurn their culture and language and then translate the bible into their language and teach it to them! They did it with 2 tribes and today some of their children continue their work! The call themselves ¨bible believers¨instead of belonging to a certain religion. So after we saw some pictures and had dinner they started showing us what they believe in using the bible, about the Mashiach and the geula that is soon to come. I didn´t come out of it religious but it did open my mind to some things and it was a very interesting afternoon!

The next day we finally did the paragliding. I was quite scared at first but it was very very fun! When you get up to the air it´s so quiet and relaxing that you completely forget the fear! And it was very beautiful too! When we returned we went to a lagoon outside the city that we heard was worth a visit. To be honest we have high standards for lagoons after the ones we allready saw, but it was still nice. We then returned to Cochabamba (which was quite complicated since we took local buses and didn´t really know where we needed to go), had dinner and got on a very nice bus (again) to Santa Cruz, our next stop.

And to finish things off... today i´m here 2 months!!!
