Nofesh in the middle of Peru

Text written in: English

After walking for eight days and Rosh Hashana evening in Huaraz we decided to go back to sea level and took a night bus back to Lima and from there to Ica. I thought Ica would be worse off after the earthquake. There were a lot of ruins but not many poor people in the streets. As soon as we got to Ica we took a cab to Huacachina- a very small little place near by, surrounded with sand dunes. The place was quite empty, probably due to the earthquake but it was just what we needed- Nofesh! Our hotel had a small pool which was a very nice change after wearing flizes for 2 weeks, and we spent the first day mostly in the pool. The second day we went to the main attraction of the place- sandboarding! We got on this wierd vehicle, a sand buggy, which gave us a rollercoaster ride to the sand dunes around. There we stoped at different places each time and slid down on a wooden board. Technically you're supposed to slide down standing up on the board, but after trying it once we decided to do it on our stomaches. I don't know what was more fun- the sand buggy, the sandboarding or the beautiful sunset. Anyways it was a very fun and funny experience. Of course we got back with tons of sand everywhere...

The next day we took a trip to Pisco- "Galapagos Laaniyim" as most people call it. We got up on a very gray day and took a two-hour speed boat drive to the Islands. The ride was windy and freezing but we got to see pinguins, sea lions, dolphins and more so it was quite nice. On our way back we stoped at a winery where we had a short tour and some wine tastings. The last stop on our trip was supposed to be a chocolate fatory, but turned out to be more like a chocolate store. But we tasted some chocolates so "lo nora".

Tonight we're leaving on a 15-hour long bus drive to Cuzco, the next stop on my trip...
