A concrete jungle

Text written in: English

My spirits had briefly been raised by seeing the illuminated grandeur of the Petronas Towers as we sped through the city streets of Kuala Lumpor, only to have it dampened by the hotel room with no windows!

Kuala Lumpor (KL) is a concrete jungle of skyscrapers infused with long mono rail tracks snaking their way around the city. After traveling around South East Asia for almost two months, KL seems a little depressing and it does no justice for the rest of the country as the capital city.

Spent the next day sight seeing and stopped by the Petronas twin towers and walked the sky bridge linking the identical towers. Later into the evening, went up 928ft to the observation deck at Menara Tower to watch the sunset over the city and just admire the lights on the Petronas Towers as darkness fell. Finished the night at the cinema and watched Resident Evil:Extinction..... other than that I did not feel like doing much else.

On Thursday we head for Melaka, I hope it's a lot more mood enhancing than KL!!

Useful Information for Travelers:

Petronas Towers. They only issue a limited amount of free tickets (800), I arrived at 1.30pm and was alocated tickets for the 3.30pm viewing, but managed to sweet talk the lady and she gave me tickets to the 2:15pm viewing. Last viewing is at 4:15pm, so get there very early or you'll miss out!

Menara Tower. Costs 20 RM, and it's worth going around sunset as the views are spectactular, plus you'll have good photo opportunities to take pictures of Petronas Towers when lit up.
