St. Augustine

Text written in: English

I finally found the perfect beach camping spot. Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine, Florida. The beach is long and wide and filled with very fine white sand that makes a funny noise when you slide your foot against it. It was SO hot. Even at 4am I was just completely hot.

The campground is almost on the beach just a short walk away. There is a peer for fishing also a short walk from camp. The park closes after 10pm but they give you a pin code for the electronic gate.

For some reason, too, once I got to Florida the mosquitoes totally disappeared. They were probably just really bad in the Carolinas and the Georgia coast due to all the rain that had fallen.

Sad to say though that after finally getting to a beach that I was completely happy with I had to turn around and leave. I have training this week in Atlanta so I only got one night in St. Augustine.

I spent the entire day at the beach on Monday before heading north towards Atlanta. the sun was burning down. It was about 100 degrees and not a cloud int the sky. The sand was like walking on hot coals and that was odd to me because the sand was very white. Thank god it isn’t a black sand beach! It was actually a little hard on the eyes it was so bright. I left the ocean and by the time I got back to Big Red my suite was already dry and I was sweating.
