life is asia is soooo so hard! hahaha. been sight seeing in singapore but not really my kinda place. it's like an asian gold coast. mum and dad and gemma (sis) leave tomorrow so they're off hitting the shopping malls but i think i'm going to go up north to find a big monastery with 1000 buddhas instead. yeah! looking forward to getting out of here on thursday morning when i go up to malaysia to catch my flight to sandakan, borneo. will be great to be near sea and jungle and not in big cities. have not been bitten yet by ANY mozzies which for those of you who were with me in greece when i had over a hundred at once- its the biggest miracle there ever was. it should almost be one of the 7 wonders of the world! lucky too because there is a dengue fever epidemic here and i don't even want to think about malaria, but have pills for that. those mozzies sure think i'm sweet as pie.
anyway, have been to bintan in indonesia. i hear there are bomb warnings there now too - i think the bastards are following me. it was great... the place we stayed at was very quiet because down the beach and round in another cove was the resort with loads of screaming kids so we had none, and there were only about a dozen people ever on the beach at once. the first night we got there they released wee turtle hatchlings into the ocean, they were so cute i wanted to smuggle some home. we went snorkelling and saw loads of colourful fish and they tickled my legs. our little hut (well actually it was kinda large) was a few metres from the golden sand and in front were loads of wee hummingbirds in the tree, all different colours, and a huge lizard living down a hole. also massive snails - wildlife was either oversized or tiny. the security guard came round every few hours to note down what you had drying on your deck because the monkeys would come and pinch things and they would find various items in the nearby jungle hanging from trees. also, i forgot how many stars there are in the sky!! reminds me of home... millions! so amazing. my tomato redness has turned a nice shade of brown too.
looking forward to heading up to bangkok after borneo to see my friend em and what she does with the human trafficking charity. it will be great to see her and be back in bang bang. i love that place. but if it's too hot i may need to find the sea again. not sure how i'm getting back down to singapore yet to fly out, but will deal with that later, see how i feel and where i feel like going.
it's in the thirties here and it's perfect. being all chilled out again and back to myself has definitely made me feel like i should get away from london for good. see how i feel at the end. even the music on my mp3 player is go go go... that's what i listen to on the tube! couldn't find too much chilled out stuff apart from my kiwi tunes...
