January 2010
January 2010 was so different for Jane and I. She was starting a wonderful new job as a grade two teacher in a private English school so Jane was busy and stressed with all the newest and challenges of a new position, colleagues, preparation and the generally hecticness of beng a teacher. I, on the other hand, was teaching the same course I taught last semester, and only teaching 4 hours a week. To the extent Jane was busy, I was equally unbusy; she was stressed and I was anything but.
It took some time for our lifestyles and work habits to form a pattern, so January was a challenging month; some would say, welcome to the real world. We were both working, but a differenct rates and with different rewards. I am so proud that my wife earns more than I do. We are very blessed as the arrangement for the suite we now live in was that we also hired the helper. Trudis comes in twice a week for a total of 10 hours and does the homecleaning, laundry and a prepares meals which we heat or re-heat.
Weather wise, January is very pleasant; dry and in the mid-teens (50's). Outside of work, we are keeping up the hiking, now onto a new trial called the Lantau trial, tryng to get out most Saturdays. This trial is also on the same island where we share rent a flat, so we can hike and stay overnight in the flat.
But again, we are sooooo blessed by the good fortune of our careers, opportunities and each other.
